IAHR Best Graduate Student Paper Awards
Equinox, publishers of the Bulletin for the Study of Religion, and the IAHR are pleased to launch the annual "IAHR Best Graduate Student Paper Awards," open to graduate student members of any IAHR member association.
How to Submit:
To be eligible, a paper must first be nominated by an officer of the IAHR member association to which the student belongs. Each IAHR member association can nominate up to two papers annually. All IAHR member associations are eligible to nominate papers or poster sessions presented by their student members at IAHR Regional/Special Conferences and IAHR World Congress during any calendar year. Correspondence to nominate a paper should be addressed to Declan McCarthy (dmccarthy@equinoxpub.com), who will provide instructions for submission. All papers accepted for consideration will be peer-reviewed, and the Bulletin will select up to four winners each year for publication.
Original papers of between 4,000 and 6,000 words may be on any topic relevant to the scope of the IAHR's stated remit. Winners will be announced by the Bulletin's editor, Merinda Simmons, when the decision has been made to accept a paper for publication. Papers may be nominated at any time but must not have been previously published.
The Awards:
In addition to the publication of their paper, successful authors will receive 3 years of free access to the Equinox Religion Library
The Bulletin began in 1971 when it was published by the Council of Societies for the Study of Religion (CSSR). It moved to Equinox in 2009. Equinox was formed in 2003 and publishes books and journals in the social sciences and humanities including The Study of Religion in a Global Context, a series published in association with the IAHR. In 2024 it launched the Equinox Religion Library . The Library is a platform that hosts all Equinox books and journals related to the study of religion. Anyone can use the site for discovery and those with subscriptions can access the full text of 7000 unique resources (articles and book chapters). This is a dynamic site with new material being indexed and added weekly.
